For half a million years Homo Erectus virtually never ate hot food so our Taste-Buds evolved being sensitive to room-temp (cold) food…so unfortunately that means, they are desensitized by HOT food. In Belgium, studies recording the electrical activity of taste nerves demonstrate that “the perception of taste decreases when the temperature rises beyond 35 Celsius or 95 Fahrenheit”.
